Mooncakes Give Hope!

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

I am so pleased with the results of our Season of Love Mooncake Charity Drive. We have sold over 3,700 mooncakes and raised funds that will abundantly support our services in Hong Kong and Qinghai. About one thousand mooncakes have been donated to low-income families for the upcoming holiday. We are so grateful to our donors and sponsors for their generosity in supporting our Charity Drive.

Ethnic Minorities Youth Ambassadors

It makes me so happy that Christian Action can do these things for EM youth who rarely get to leave the city.

Arya’s Redemption from Human Trafficking

As soon as Arya arrived in Hong Kong, her employer confiscated her passport and employment contract. Arya was forced to serve the family 7 days a week from 6:00 AM to 12:30 AM with no rest days. The employer’s wife verbally abused Arya and gave her inadequate food while invading her privacy by installing a CCTV camera in her room. She did not receive a monthly salary for her work. Instead her employer transferred a meagre HK$3,000 to her family in India each month.

Chinese Medicine Seminar for Underprivileged Women

Ah Mui is an underemployed single mother with three children in primary and secondary school. She suffers from stress-induced insomnia. Every penny she receives from government welfare goes towards feeding, clothing and educating her children. There's no money left for her to take care of herself. Ah Mui’s insomnia resulted in bad moods and constantly yelling at her kids. Any of us who had insomnia and Ah Mui's circumstances, would also yell at our kids.

We always try to find solutions, or offer help, to ease the struggles of our service users. At our Mongkok Service Centre our partnership with Hong Kong Baptist University’s School of Chinese Medicine (HKBUCM) offers seminars titled Sleeping Well in Menopause: Chinese Medicine for Menopause.
