My worst fears... for the children

It's great having a blog site! It gives me yet another way I can communicate with you in the year ahead!

What a year it was in 2008!  It felt like it was the beginning of a marathon, with lots of training and preparation by God, blessings as well as trials. We had a great team of like-minded people, so we were able to dedicate ourselves to prayer together in January.  It was the year we celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the Children's Home in Xining, and it was a joy to take some Board members and key supporters to Qinghai and show them what had been achieved for the children.  While last year was a milestone in our work, it also laid the foundation stone for what is happening now and the work that will go on into the future.

Of course the economic tsunami puts fear into my heart.  Right now, just when we're expanding this essential ministry to vulnerable children, my worst fear is that people may stop giving, and if this happens, children who have no parents to love them will not have our love and care either. This thought is unbearable.

But as I began reading my Bible early this year, God drew to my attention some words from Isaiah 43, verse 19 :`See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?'  From this, I have the assurance that our present and future plans for the helpless, disabled children of China have God's blessing. After all, He loves the children far more deeply than I do!

Since you have been inspired by the work we have already done, I believe you will be inspired to again show your concern and love for the children and will continue partnering with us in serving them. Thank you so much in anticipation of what you will achieve with us in the year ahead.

I plan to do my very best to talk to you once a week, and will definitely speak with you this time next week because I have some really good news to share - see you then!
