Our Vision is Spreading to England!

Hi again!

I've been away, first at a Board meeting of Christian Action U.K., followed by a refreshing holiday with my husband Marlon and son Danial. It brought back many memories of my earlier years in England.  I spent five years being educated there and a further three years in Liverpool, where I met Marlon and first began working for Vietnamese Boat People and the Chinese community.  It was just great this time to share a testimony of my ministry to the poor, especially in Qinghai, at the Liverpool Chinese Gospel Church.

We've set up a Board of Directors in England because of the need to raise funds for the Children's Homes.  As you know, our Children Home in Xining has been up and running very successfully for over ten years now.  As a result, the Chinese government want us to co-manage seven more orphanages in Qinghai Province!  This is fantastic, but we need to raise eight times the amount of funding we raised before, hence the need for a Board of Directors in England. Tax-paying donors in the UK can now give to our work and the UK government will give tax relief on donations.  This is called 'Gift Aid'.  To donate please visit www.christianactionuk.org

We're also working to get charity status in the USA, so please pray for this to happen soon.  In the meantime US citizens can support our work by going on to http://www.fohkc.com and clicking on the blue "Donate Now" button (tax deductible). Select Christian Action as your preference of donation allocation.

My time in the UK was inspiring, especially as I saw the Lord go ahead of me, opening the door for me to speak about the work of Christian Action!

One of the members of the UK Board is Nigel Oakes. He and his wife Alice have been long-time friends and supporters of this work. One day soon I'll write the full story of how God gave me a vision to begin our work with orphans, and how Nigel was connected with that dream!  For now, I'll tell you what happened when I went to their church, St Andrew's and St Bartholomew's Anglican Church, Churchdown in Gloucestershire.  A women's breakfast had been planned by the Vicar's wife, Susie Perkin and just before I arrived in England, the scheduled speaker pulled out.  A member of Wycliffe was invited to speak instead, but after praying about it, she said she didn't feel she should speak.  So just one week before the breakfast, the organisers had no speaker.  Alice suggested to Nigel that I could be asked to speak and I was very glad to do so, and thank Susie for being so supportive to me.

Strangely, before I spoke, there were two empty seats on my table, and then a woman called Loraine, came and sat beside me without realising that I was the Speaker. She had such kind eyes and I began chatting to her. Almost immediately, without knowing what I was going to speak about, she told me she was an orphan!  This greatly encouraged me and those generous women were so thrilled to hear about our service in Qinghai that they donated over 400 pounds to our work!  The following Sunday, the Vicar invited me to say a few words to the whole church, and got the children to come out and pray for me, so I shared with them that we were looking for churches to partner with us in the privilege of serving orphans in China.

I'm very grateful to God for all that He did while I was in England!
