Take your family… it will change their lives

After my recent trip to Qinghai, when a few people came with me from St. Luke's Orthodox Cathedral in Hong Kong and Resurrection Church, Sai Kung (where my family fellowships) I asked Anna and Brian Dangerfield to share their family's impression of what they experienced. This is what Anna wrote:

We have just had one of the greatest privileges any family can possibly have - traveling to Qinghai Province, China, with Christian Action.

This trip was especially poignant for our family and our friend Sandy who travelled with us because we are both parents of adopted children. As families who have received the blessing of adopted children we are always keen to educate ourselves on how best we can help to meet the needs of orphans by supporting the valuable work of Christian Action.

Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, whatever you do for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." (Matthew 25:40)  That is what we witnessed in Qinghai – Christian Action being God’s hands and feet in the community. They are serving the community in God’s love & grace.  Xining and Huangnan Children’s homes are transforming the lives of abandoned children and teenagers.

We were inspired by the commitment, compassion and vision of Siew Mei and the team who work tirelessly for the children. The children are all cared for with dignity in an environment of love. This is sharing the message with the community that all children are valued and precious.

We met wonderful foster families who are dedicating their time to caring for the children, and we met a family who are in the process of adopting their son. It thrilled us to hear of families who have had the privilege that we have had of adopting children from Qinghai.  I would encourage anyone who has ever considered traveling or volunteering their time, to go and serve the children in Qinghai.

We were deeply touched by the love of Jesus that was demonstrated in the running of the homes. We are grateful to those who serve in Christian Action and thankful for the opportunity to see God’s hand at work as the children are loved and cared for.

Take your family – it will change their lives!

Excerpt from Rebekah's diary (aged 13 years): ".. It was a good experience for me to see these disabled kids as it makes me realise how privileged we are and how Christian Action have supported these children and saved their lives."
