Christian Action Donor Sponsors a Charity Movie Day for 130 of Our Children

"I signed up as soon as I saw the announcement. What impressed me was the final showdown, Ne Zha's perseverance, and the sacrifices he made to save his parents. Thank you Christian Action." - Lin Lin, from our programme
Fun fact: when I was a young girl, movie tickets were given out during Children’s Day to kids of the public housing where I was brought up. It was the highlight of my year! To this day I can still remember watching Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music at the Coliseum theatre in Kuala Lumpur!
On the 2nd of March 2025 a very generous Christian Action donor sponsored a special movie day for our children. On that day 130 of our our Choi Wan After-School Care children and their parents viewed "Ne Zha: The Devil Child Stirs Up the Sea 2”!
The movie is a wildly popular Chinese-made animated film that is rooted in Chinese mythology and philosophy. It has garnered huge box office success and has captured the hearts of audiences across 37 countries, including in Hong Kong.
We were also fortunate to have Ms. Tsang Pui Yee, an animation director, present at the screening. She helped the children explore the movie’s themes, including it’s moral narrative and Chinese philosophy.
The children and their parents not only enjoyed one of the most acclaimed films of recent times but were also treated to a HK$50 fast-food restaurant voucher, adding an extra layer of delight to this wonderful outing!
On behalf of the children, the parents and Christian Action, I would like to thank this event’s donor, and each of you, for all that you do for those whom we serve.
Blessings, Siew Mei
