Ming's Hong Kong Family!
Two weeks ago I introduced you to a little guy called Ming from Xining Children's Home. Ming is currently in Hong Kong for specialist medical care that is not available in China. His condition is a little complicated, but there is an excellent team of specialists who are ensuring that he has the best treatment Hong Kong can offer. I had the privilege of visiting Ming at Prince of Wales Hospital while he was having tests recently. But I wanted to share a lovely miracle with you...
For the first two weeks of his stay in Hong Kong, Ming stayed at the home of a good friend of mine. His Xining 'Mama' stayed with him. But this arrangement was only temporary. We didn’t know where Ming would be spending the rest of his time in Hong Kong and we prayed for some solution to this problem. Then Connie and Ben miraculously came into our lives.
We met Connie at Prince of Wales Hospital when one of her relatives was sharing Ming's room! She was so impressed by what Christian Action is doing for Ming that she told her husband "I can't stop thinking about this boy 'Ming', I want to foster him while he’s in Hong Kong!" Ben agreed, and once we verified the suitability of Ben and Connie as foster parents, Ming was off to his temporary 'home' in Hong Kong.
When I visited Ming recently at the hospital Connie and Ben were there, and I had the privilege of getting to know them. They are strong Christians and believe that God brought Ming into their lives. Connie’s daughter is currently studying law in the UK, and her son is in his final year of high school. They embraced Ming as part of their family when they celebrated Christmas together. Just before Connie’s daughter returned to England she said: "Mum, I'm going to pledge 20% of my earnings towards Ming’s education." Isn't that great news?!
Connie and Ben are self employed in the clothing trade, which means Ming is completely outfitted from their business, and they can both be at the hospital with Ming during his surgery. They clearly dote on him! Ming is now recovering from surgery for bilateral cryptorchidism. He will have several more surgical procedures over the next few months, and I will post regular updates of his progress.
In the interim, please pray that a forever family will soon be found for Ming, and that his recovery will be quick and uneventful!
