When Death Brings Comfort
Easter is approaching as I write this to you, and my family will once again celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus.
When God healed Marlon, my husband, of fourth stage cancer during 2013, our family had a deep revelation of the love of God, in life and in death.
Of course we were very worried about Marlon’s health, but in the midst of our fervent prayers we were also grateful that whether or not Marlon survived, he was a child of God and he would live on in God’s presence if the cancer won the long battle for healing.
That’s the beauty of Easter. The sacrifice and death of Jesus on the Cross was not the end of his life. He said he would rise again in three days and he did! He said He was leaving to go to his Father and he did! His followers actually saw him physically ascending to Heaven – and then his promised gift of his Spirit was given to them and to us, so we have the assurance that death will not be the end for us humans.
At Christian Action, we believe that one day we will be reunited with every one of the innocent infants who were left in our care but who physically could not survive their disabilities or the physical abuse they had suffered. Jesus made his love for all children very clear.
So while we live we will continue to care for these little ones, and I want to thank you for enabling us to continue bringing them comfort in their pain and distress.
I pray that you will truly celebrate that wonderful verse of scripture – John 11:25: I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
