Consider the Lilies

I enjoy reading in the Bible about a day when Jesus was walking in the countryside with his followers. He pointed to the wildflowers and said, "Not even King Solomon with all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these flowers."

Flowers are fragile, and so was four-week-old Lili when she came to Xining Children's Home. She was born without ears and her jaw was under-developed, but we still thought she was as beautiful as any flower.

Because hearing is so important in a child’s development, establishing whether Lili could hear or not was at the top of our list of priorities. There were no specialists in Qinghai who were able to assist with this medical problem, so we brought Lili to Hong Kong for consultations with the best physicians and doctors we could find.

hearing aid.

We were thrilled to hear (let’s be grateful for our own hearing!) that not only could Lili hear, she could also be fitted with a baby hearing aid!

The maxillofacial surgeon told us that auricular reconstruction will definitely be an option in the future, and he advised us to keep a careful eye on the development of Lili’s facial structure over the next few months.  Thank God for the miraculous developments in medical procedures!

Lili stayed with Emily and Brian Thompson and their two little boys while she was in Hong Kong and immediately fitted into their family life.  When she was awake she loved being in her ‘jolly jumper’, pushing up and down with her little legs – and developing strength in the process.  And she slept even with her foster brothers noisily playing around her. When the family was in the pool, she proved to be a real water-Lili, kicking and squealing with delight.  Even though she has a voracious appetite, and grew significantly during the six weeks she spent in Hong Kong, Lili promises to remain a delicate and petite flower for the rest of her life!

I'm delighted to have introduced this little treasure to you. Please pray for Lili’s health, and for her to be adopted as soon as possible. Thank you for all your love and support!
