Borrowed Time

One of the lessons I've learned from the children who have been in Xining Children's Home is that there is no such thing as 'borrowed time'. I know now that there is only God's time for each of our lives, and I'm glad to see that the time we may set on a life-span is not necessarily his time!

Fifteen-year-old Mia France, is a thriving example of this...

BeiBei as we knew her then, was born in Xining. She had very severe scoliosis, as well as a number of other complicated health problems. Her doctors and surgeons warned that she would not live beyond her 14th birthday, which passed on August 3rd, 2013. Christian Action battled beside her and when a family wanted to adopt her ten years ago, we believed it was a miracle. They named her Mia. Mia continued to fight her health problems and her new family fought for her, just as we had done.

Recently Mia sent us this letter:

Since leaving the orphanage, I have been given many great opportunities that have improved my quality of life. I was told I probably wasn’t going to live past the age of 14, and this year I will be celebrating my 15th birthday. My family has given everything so I could be here today and I am grateful for everything they have done for me. I am always surrounded by love. Coming to America has helped me get better and live a longer life filled with so many opportunities. I am the most proud of working on getting an education and getting to meet new people. When I am older and have become an independent adult, my goal is to become a therapist as I would like to help people who can't help themselves emotionally and physically. I want to live my life to the fullest and with the people that I love around me. Mia France.

I appreciate our doctors very much - they are true servants and continue to help our children in sacrificial ways, but I’m very glad they were wrong in assessing Mia’s life-span! We are all thrilled to know that she is not just surviving, but is actually thriving. Hope is a great energizer and Mia is full of hope.

I want to thank all of you for your prayers and for your donations. Thank you for your faith in me, and in the vision that God gave me so many years ago which has resulted in changing the lives of a great many children. Please continue to pray for all the other children still in our care.
