Children are the Future

"Every child, including the poorest, should be given opportunities to learn, explore and enjoy. Childhood memories are treasured throughout our lives and our aim is to give children happy memories." Those are the words of Rotary Club President, Mr. Admund Au Chi Hoe.

In 2013, when Dr. Peter Lo (then president of the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Bayview) contacted me, I was thrilled that such a reputable institution was interested in expanding their philanthropic efforts to include those we help. Many worthwhile programmes at Christian Action might cease to exist if it weren't for the generosity and support given by organizations such as Rotary.

I greatly appreciate the efforts that Rotary Club of HK Bayview have made to assist low income single-parent families and newly arrived families. In July, they took our children from Mong Kok Centre to the Wan Chai Book Exhibition and even gave them spending money! And they visited the centre again during the Mid-Autumn Festival!

Mr. Au Chi Hoe said: "It was really an unforgettable experience. Not only for the 77 children, but also for the Rotarians! It is extraordinarily meaningful to the children as the book exhibition is held only once a year and they have little opportunity to take part in these kinds of activities. The Mid-Autumn event is especially important as this festival is supposed to be a day to gather and celebrate with relatives. So we organized a joyful event so as to give warmth and love to the children. I'm sure that in future every smile and laugh will give them happy memories of their childhood. In the future, I hope our two parties will treasure this partnership and organise more meaningful projects to help the community!"
