Celebrating Christ
People across the world will be celebrating the Easter holiday this weekend. This is a particularly significant time for Christians like me. We celebrate the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which was an historic event that changed the world.
Jesus took the blame for all our sin; suffered God's judgment, and died when Roman soldiers put him to death on a cruel cross. It was an event that is well attested to historically. Two billion people now call themselves Christians. I am one of those who follow Christ, believing that because Jesus bore the punishment for my sins, I will one day stand before our righteous God, forgiven, and will enjoy His loving presence for all of eternity. This is the basis of my faith as a Christian, and I'm humbled by Christ's sacrifice daily. I have learned from Him how to serve others.
At times, it seems like we live in such an unjust, imperfect world. In my line of work I see broken people all around. But I continue with the work because the Bible teaches us that Jesus came to serve imperfect, broken people, and we should serve them too. He was the ultimate servant! Christians call Him the Servant King.
As His follower, and by His power, I will continue to bring good news to the poor, build up the broken hearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and comfort all who mourn.
Jesus said He would rise from death, and He did. He said He'd be going to His Father three days after He died, and He did. He promised to return and He will! May you experience his forgiveness, love and grace today!
