Flying the Flag

What have cats and stickers got to do with giving hope to various marginalized communities in Hong Kong?
The answer is Mango Naoko, this year's Caring Artist. Mango is a Japanese illustrator who has always had a love for cats. Throughout her childhood, she remembers feeding, visiting with, and taking stray cats to receive medical attention. The more she cared for these stray cats, the more they became a part of her family.
Mango settled in Hong Kong with her husband and two of her cats in 2012. It was here that she became inspired by the streets, buildings, and nostalgic elements of the city. Those scenes and her love of cats, has led to her production of whimsical, unique art pieces.
On August 9th Christian Action will be celebrating another Flag Day with the hope that we can raise $600,000, all of which will go towards building greater self-reliance of the marginalized in our community.
Mango's limited edition stickers will be handed out and feature a Fruit of the Spirit in English or Chinese, along with a delightful cat illustration by Naoko.
Mango cares for stray cats, and we care for and provide for the underprivileged such as those who are new arrivals, ethnic minorities, refugees, migrant workers, or children.
We hope that this Flag Day, Mango's delightful stickers and the Flag Day event will bring much hope and light to people, and perhaps reflect the kind of sacrificial love that God has shown to us. Follow this link and sign up to share God's love with the people of Hong Kong.
