Christmas is (almost) here!

This momentous year has been marked by several milestones. Firstly, my son Danial has a job with the AI industry in Hong Kong (Mum is pleased)!

In April we finally closed the doors of the New Horizons Building, our home for more than 30 years. We had a beautiful and intimate gathering with former Vietnamese refugees, ex-staff, tutors from the Kai Tak Refugee Camp, and service users from Centre for Refugees. A wave of nostalgia hit all of us as we went down memory lane, starting with the refugee camp. It was such a special time for us! We are filled with hope, believing that more amazing things will happen in our new headquarters.

Thankfully, because of many months of preparation, our move-in by end April was smooth. When normal operations resumed, we made sure that those we serve would feel at home in our new headquarters. We met up with our new neighbours as well! The past few months have seen many visitors touring our building. These included organisations and community members, such as Employees Retraining Board (ERB), the Wong Tai Sin District Office, LegCo members, district councillors, NGOs, our donors and resident representatives. We hope they will learn more about our vision, mission and new facilities. They have been enthusiastic about our new home and provided us with good ideas and suggestions.

God has been truly faithful in His promise that blessings would come our way, so we are excited about those that are yet to happen. This year began a new chapter in our lives, so I look forward to the marvellous work we will do to improve the lives of the people we serve.

I also thank God that Marlon, Danial and I are once again together after Danial's nearly 5 years in Vancouver.

May this Christmas season fill you with strength and hope to believe that nothing is impossible for our God. I pray that your homes will be filled with much warmth and love. Let us together celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Have a blessed and wonderful Christmas!

Siew Mei
