Celebrating Years of Supporting Children & Youths
Since 2008, Christian Action has been implementing the Child Development Fund Programme (CDF) under the Labour and Welfare Bureau, to empower children and youth. During those years, beginning with the Mentoring Programme, done with the support of the Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor (HKCNP), the lives of many children and teenagers have improved.
We recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the CDF programme at Wan Chai. Over 800 people attended, including children, mentors, family members and representatives from various schools and organizations. It was a special event because of the presence of the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Carrie Lam, GBM, GBS; the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Dr. Law Chi-kwong, GBS, JP; and the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Church Network for the Poor, Dr. Philemon Choi.
It was a blessing to see the opening performance and to listen to the impassioned testimonies from previous graduates. It was deeply moving for everyone in attendance to hear how the programme has changed their lives.
My heart was pounding with joy as I witnessed our student participants come up to the stage to receive their certificates. CA was also recognised as one of the organisations which has significantly supported the programme.
Moreover, Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, commended everyone for the tremendous job in putting the programme together. She encouraged us to continue our mission of helping children to enhance their self-confidence and break away from the inter-generational poverty cycle. I left the venue with a full and grateful heart, affirmed by the knowledge that our services have brought joy and hope to the youth of today.
The recognition we received has further fueled my commitment to the next generation of leaders. I am truly grateful to share this mission with inspiring and dedicated colleagues who will stop at nothing to partner with churches and other organisations as we empower more lives. I pray that we may continue to serve even more young people in the future. May we continue to shine God's light on them so that they would be filled with hope as they boldly face the future.
