Transforming Experience into Blessing
Regardless of our backgrounds, we all experience challenging times in our lives. Those times can be "checkpoints" or lead us to something better. I personally know that there are very difficult times, but they can later bring blessing. That is Hoi Ching's story.
For many years, Hoi Ching struggled with finding a stable job that would sustain her family. Since she only finished Form 4, she couldn't pick and choose a job. None of her jobs gave her personal satisfaction, so she kept changing jobs, constantly frustrated and losing all faith in her own abilities, and with no hope for her family and her future.
Then Hoi Ching enrolled in our 'Foundation Certificate in Baker and Pastry Cook Training' course. She had an encouraging instructor, determined to teach her the art of baking. Hoi Ching also gained valuable advice about exploring future opportunities. That gave her a more positive outlook on life and discovered that baking is her true calling. She was so filled with joy that she was even able to let go of her long-time vice - smoking!
Shortly after completing our course, Hoi Ching found work at a cake shop that would encourage her new passion. She is now able to spread happiness with every service she provides. The people around her give her great encouragement and support. At last she feels fulfilled! She currently works as a manager at an NGO café, but she has a bigger dream – she plans to open her own shop one day!
I hope her story inspires you to be fearless in the present and hopeful for the future. May we each look honestly at the challenges in our lives, and find the strength to learn from them and look forward to a blessing.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
