Another Butterfly Flourishes

Leah and her adopted parents, Aron and Jenn, have always been in my prayers. We visited them in Washington DC in 2018, and recently received an update from Jenn.

After leaving our Xining Children’s Home in 2010, Leah has continued to thrive. She is a straight-A student in her seventh-grade class.

Aside from her cousins and sisters, Kyra and Ryann, and their two cats, Leah has made strong friendships in school. Alaina is her best friend.

Leah is an avid reader and hopes to pursue a career as an editor. And she has also mastered the trumpet!

Before COVID-19, her family travelled to Florida’s Disney World, to Anguilla, Europe, and other places. Leah also went with the family on two mission trips to Nicaraguan villages: they adore the local kids and enjoy spending time with them.

Leah’s story continues to be an inspiration to fellow amputees. Despite the birth defects that affected her right foot and ankle, she adapts to every environment and continues to spread positive, happy energy to those around her. Jenn believes the care she received in the Xining Children’s Home and in her new home in America, are the major reasons behind her confidence. Jenn says, “Leah is such a fun part of our family, and is often laughing! Sometimes for no reason at all!”

I am always very moved to know that the children from our Home are happy and thriving in their new families and in a different environment. They are a reminder to us that we should also be resilient as we face life's various challenges, praying always for God’s guidance and blessing.
