Mission 21 Renews Its Support of Our Work with Refugees and Exploited Women

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

God is alive and active. He continued to remind me of that fact throughout my time at the World Council of Churches 11th Assembly when He orchestrated meeting after unplanned meeting with key supporters of Christian Action’s work!

On the second morning for example, as I filed through the security checks with 3,500 attendees, someone started shouting “Siew Mei, Siew Mei!”. It was Katharina Gfeller and Doris Grohs of longtime Christian Action supporters from Mission 21!

Later that evening we joined Katharina and Doris for dinner, where we also met their President, past and present Mission 21 Directors, worldwide partners and made new friends. During the dinner, we learned more about Mission 21’s justice and compassion work through Churches and Christian organisations around the world and were invited to visit their headquarters in Basel, Switzerland!

After the 11th Assembly we experienced another ‘God planned’ meeting when we were en-route to Switzerland and we bumped into the China expert Dr Christoph Stuckelberger from Geneva Agape Foundation! He helped us with directions and with getting tickets! Then we bumped into Magdalena Zimmermann of Mission 21!

At Mission 21 we met with Katharina Gfeller, Mathias Waldmeyer, and Barbara Grass. We updated them on CA’s work, the general situation in China, and our Refugees and Domestic Workers programmes, which they have supported for almost ten years.

At the end of the meeting we signed a new agreement to continue sending faithful young volunteers to help our Refugees and Migrants Domestic Workers service centre.

I thank God for all of the divine appointments during my European trip; including the completely unplanned side trip to Switzerland! However, after almost three years of pandemic, it was a perfect way to my trip! I simply followed God’s lead, and He opened incredible doors for me.

Siew Mei
