Plenteous Joy and Continuous Prosperity

Happy Year of the Monkey! Chinese New Year is a time for family reunions. This week, friends and family around the world take time to visit each other, and give lucky money (lai see) to kids. And of course whenever Chinese people gather, food abounds! During this exciting time of year, there is a different mood filling the streets and peoples' hearts. Community at its Finest!

For the past seven years, the lives of many underprivileged children who were destined to become uneducated, unmotivated adults have been changed. Giving children self-esteem is one of the most valuable things we can do in life.

Strength in the Challenges

When one of our little ones is adopted from Qinghai, it's a great blessing to receive cheerful updates from their adoptive parents! Lulu's mother, Gina, sends us regular updates, and as I read each letter I share in the joy that Lulu brings to the world, with talents and gifts all her own.

She's had her fair share of struggles and now Lulu is in the midst of another one. While she has an incredible family to love and support her, I'm inviting you to please pray with us for her healing.

Redeemed to Serve

Ethnically Indian, but born and raised in Hong Kong, Jeffrey Andrews is Hong Kong's first locally trained Indian social worker. He's had the opportunity to speak before the United Nations in Geneva, and his work has been featured in various newspapers and TV programmes.

His most valuable asset when relating to people in the ethnic minority (EM) community is his ethnicity. Jeffrey knows what it's like to attend school in Hong Kong yet be barred from learning Chinese, and be discriminated against because of his skin colour. He knows what it's like not to have the privileges granted to other children in Hong Kong.

Giving Warmth in Freezing Qinghai

Temperatures are well below freezing on the Tibetan Plateau, but the children at Xin Ning Court, Qinghai, have enjoyed some warmth from Hong Kong!

To celebrate our "Season of Love" charity drive in December, we asked our Facebook friends to choose their favourite hot drink from a list that included green tea, milk tea, chocolate and Ovaltine. We promised our friends that during the Christmas holiday, we would share the drinks they'd chosen with the children in Qinghai.
