Freedom Is Incredibly Precious

Nowhere to call home: there are over 35 million refugees in the world and Hong Kong is a temporary refuge to less than 1% of them. For those weary travelers we provide Hong Kong's only comprehensive service center.

Abuse. Torture. Harassment. Fear. Imagine... they're after you. All you can do is flee. Men, women and children come to Hong Kong to escape the abuse, torture, harassment and fear in their own countries. They come to us - and their physical and spiritual recovery begins... with you.

Samantha's husband was "disappeared" by political factions in the Congo. A new mother, she fled to Hong Kong and had no way to make ends meet.

Henry escaped persecution in Southeast Asia by fleeing through China to Hong Kong. He still bears the physical scars of torture in his home country. In Hong Kong, he wants desperately to work and support himself, but meets only obstacles and harassment.

Mary has two small children. She escaped political persecution, harassment and sexual abuse at the hands of soldiers to bring her children to Hong Kong. She is working hard to learn English, get past her trauma, and make a life for her little girls.

The one thing these three and others like them have in common is a desire to escape from fear, build a life and live in freedom. They know how incredibly precious freedom is.

They are in Hong Kong because they have faith in the place where East meets West, and where people  of conviction are willing to take action.  With your help, Christian Action gives these refugees and asylum seekers not just a handout, but a hand up.

This year World Refugee Day is on June 19th  and we're aiming to raise HK$200,000 to continue serving the Samanthas, Henrys and Marys that arrive at our door.   To get here they've each traveled a long, costly and painful road.  Please show your support by getting friends to join you and put on a fund-raising walk for refugees of your own!
