Unexpected Blessing!
I am still in the United States because, as I said last week, Christian Action Asia has begun working here to raise awareness of the service we're offering in the Tibetan Plateau area of China. We have now been asked to co-manage a total of TWELVE orphanages in this remote region, and I have to tell you that it sometimes seems to me like a humanly impossible task to raise funds for what we need to do for these helpless children. In my doubtful times, I desperately need God's reassurance that we must continue with this work. I did not expect to receive His powerful reassurance while I was here!
Adam Voysey, CAA's Director of Development, came with me to Kansas City to visit churches and a very encouraging Foundation. We were told that non-stop prayer vigils are held at the International House of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City.
To me, the spiritual side of my life is very important, so when I heard about IHOP I immediately wanted to go there for a time of prayer. Those who were praying had received the gift of discernment and had shown themselves to have a prophetic calling, so they began praying over Adam, Kerry Schottelkorb (a colleague) and me one by one. They read each one of us like a book!
Knowing nothing about me other than my name, one of them immediately amazed me by quoting the key scripture verses which I had included in my power point presentation. One was James 1:27 (see above)
He also quoted Jesus in Matthew 5:14-16: "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
Among other things, the man praying also told me, "You are a worshipper." Ever since I was 17 years old, I have loved serving as a singer on the worship team of every church where I’ve been a member – in the UK, in Malaysia and in Hong Kong.
I know that different people view such experiences according to their background and their place on their spiritual journey, but for me that was an encounter with God and a great blessing to me. I am at peace about proceeding with the work on the Tibetan Plateau which seems humanly impossible. I am confident that with God all things are possible!
Please continue upholding us in your own prayers.
