Aiming for Gold!
Even as a child, Yin Yin had a deep love of sport. The question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" always got the answer, "A professional athlete."
She enjoyed all sports, but cycling became her first love. With her parent's encouragement, Yin Yin pursued her dream, eventually joining The Cycling Association of Hong Kong to train. But she soon hit a roadblock.
Despite Yin Yin's determination, she could only go so far due to her family's low economic status. Thanks to you - the supporters of Christian Action's Child Development Fund (CDF) project, Yin Yin is now speeding to victory!
Our CDF project aims to encourage children to reach their full potential. To achieve this goal, we match each child with a mentor for a 3 year project. At the beginning of the project, Yin Yin was distressed. Some parts of her old and faithful bike were no longer in production, but the solution to that problem was in her own hands. Those who are being mentored are asked to save money each year of the project to put towards their life goals. After the first year of saving, Yin Yin realized that she could use the money she'd saved to purchase a brand new bike!
As she began training for an upcoming international competition, Yin Yin knew she would need an even better bike. With our equally matched savings at the end of her third year in CDF project, Yin Yin was able to buy her new "chariot" for the international event! I was really moved by the photos of her participation in the competition. She gained so much by learning to build up her reserves for a better future!
Yin Yin not only went on to compete in the 2016 Taiwan Cup Track International Classic in June, BUT SHE WON THE GOLD MEDAL! What an accomplishment! On behalf of Yin Yin and others like her, thank you so much for your support of Christian Action's valuable work.
