Decades of Humble Service

After over two decades in the corporate sector, Alice Li was a welcome addition to our team in 2000. While many seek to make big bucks in a large corporation, Alice had a longing to do something different, something which is not ‘normal' in our city, based as it is on profit and loss. Alice wanted to serve others.

Presenting Alice her 15-years
Long Service Award in 2015

We recently celebrated Alice's 16 years of humble service! She has faithfully served in our Training Services Division, helping to coordinate and facilitate vocational training courses for those seeking gainful employment or to improve their skill set in a particular industry.

All who know her agree that Alice has selflessly served the needy in our community. She says that her most memorable time was during the SARs outbreak in 2003. It was indeed a difficult time for our city - with severe outbreaks just down the road! Due to the impact on the economy, many people lost their jobs and came to us for help. Alice and her team gave them hope for the future. She said she was glad to be a blessing at a time when people needed it most.

It was an honour to present Alice with two long services awards: 10 and 15 years of service. But this one - her retirement award - was perhaps the most significant. What an accomplishment! Although Alice has officially retired, she is continuing to serve in post-retirement work with us. She just can't bear to stop serving! She proclaimed, "I still feel young! I'm still able to work!" She contributes her youthful vivaciousness to Hong Kong's increasing life expectancy. Who knows, Alice might just out serve me!
