Forging Family Bonds

In our busy society, we easily forget that it's important for the whole family to have an outing together, and at the same time get to know other families they meet. For newcomers to our city, this is even more important, so we're doing something about it!

With the sponsorship from the Home Affairs Department of HKSAR, we brought together 40 people from grassroots families in Sheung Shui and took them on an outing to Cathay City. This is Cathay Pacific's headquarters in the Tung Chung area.

Cathay City had so much to offer! It is a large property, complete with a staff hotel, flight training school, workshop and storage building, leisure center, and an airline storage building. Our families had the chance to participate in a guided tour of Cathay City followed by a trip to Tung Chung Town Centre to spend more quality time with each other.

The outing was a great opportunity for the families to learn more about their community and about Hong Kong which has continued to flourish after its reunification with Mainland China.

One father, named Wing, said the outing gave him the opportunity to see a place he had never seen before and importantly, he saw how much his family learned from the experience, and that encouraged him.
