Let's Give On Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving Day is finally here! I love this holiday because it is a time for us to look back, acknowledge and thank the Lord for all the blessings showered on us this year. It is also a time for us to send our blessings to others, especially those in need.
I want to share with you how God has blessed our fundraising campaign which has helped us to transform the life of Xiaolong.
'Xiaolong' is a name that describes an agile person. Yet our Xialong has lived with cerebral palsy since he was a child. His condition induces a contracture in his lower limb muscles and joints, causing both legs to bend inwards. That makes it difficult for him to stand and to walk.
He came to us in 2005 at the tender age of 4, and has been living at the Xining Children's Home for 13 years. During his time in the home, he has become strong and independent. Through the guidance of our caring staff, he has been able to figure out a way to independently do his daily routine. That includes taking a shower, dressing, and feeding himself.
Our staff empathise with Xiaolong's anguish over his condition, and we make sure that he and every other child is being provided with the comprehensive care to address their needs. In his second year at the Children's Home, Xiaolong had a surgical procedure to improve his mobility. That was followed by extensive rehabilitation and training. He is now able to walk with the aid of a walker and can move around the children's home holding the rails.
He says, "Maybe my parents didn't have the means to take care of me, so they had to leave me here. So I am thankful for all the things the kind-hearted people and the staff at the children's home have done for me."
He has a deep interest in literature and the arts, and dreams of being an orator someday. He hopes to inspire and raise more awareness about people with disabilities, and other people in need so that more help could be given to them.
Xiaolong is one of many stories from Qinghai that show how powerful lives are changed when you support the work financially. One of the ways you can give is through our annual Season of Love charity drive, Please prayerfully consider supporting our Season of Love?
Let our blessings change the lives of even more children in need.
Happy Thanksgiving!
