Paralyzed and Bedridden
Earlier this year Bobo’s 36 year old husband suffered a stroke. He had been the family’s breadwinner, with a stable job as a kitchen worker, while his wife cared for their two very young daughters. The stroke left him paralyzed, bedridden and completely dependent on his wife and in-laws for around the clock care. With only the part-time income from Bobo’s 70 year old mother, the family struggles to put food on the table and survive.
In August this year, Christian Action started an Emergency Food Programme for families like Bobo’s in Yau Tsim Mong district. We did not have funds, so we prayed for the resources to feed 1,000 individuals. Four short months later and we are now feeding over 300 families and 160 individuals per month - 1,000 people in all!
Recently, Bobo approached one of my Social Workers with tears in her eyes. She had just received her family’s food box, which she noticed included five small packets of baby yoghurt. “Can I feed this to my husband?” she asked imploringly. Apparently her husband had just graduated from a feeding tube to semi-liquids, but baby formula was too costly.
Sometimes small gestures may seem insignificant, but even a small pack of baby yoghurt can mean a lot to a struggling family. Please pray and give to support families like Bobo’s. Thank you.
