A Greeting for 2021
“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name”
Psalm 103:1
Happy New Year! The past year has been one of unprecedented challenges. But greater than each of them has been the miracle of God’s provision!
In August the demand for basic food from low-income families grew exponentially. Without funding, we took a step of faith to set up an emergency food station adjacent to our Mongkok Centre. In the same month, a fire broke out at our Centre for Refugees. I prayed for both these needs and we appealed to you and all our donors for support. The response was overwhelming.
Just when things were looking up, a horrific fire swept through a residential block in Yau Ma Tei in November. Eleven Nepalese were injured and sadly eight dead. Our social workers provided desperately needed services to the affected families and support poured in even before an appeal went out. I was totally blown away by God’s faithfulness and your generosity.
As if we needed to end the year with a big sign from God, one of our own staff who contracted COVID-19 and was on the verge of death was miraculously healed. I will share his testimony in a coming blog post.
After many delays, at the beginning of December we finally moved into the new Xining Children Home. The new complex has 10 rehabilitation rooms for children with disabilities. If you are able, please give and help us purchase special rehab equipment.
Your compassion and partnership in 2020 has given enormous relief to so many. My family and I pray for joy, peace and good health for you and your loved ones!
Wishing you a Happy New Year!
