Sing Praises to the Lord!
When I had my lucid dream in 1993, I understood it as God calling me to save the unwanted babies in China. At that time, I had no important contacts in the mainland and could not read Chinese. Setting up a Christian children’s home in Qinghai seemed to be an impossible dream.
After over 20 years of service, Christian Action now co-manages four children’s homes in Qinghai province, and our child welfare service continues to grow. I am thrilled to tell you that our new Xining Children’s Home (XNCH) opened its doors in December 2020! We should indeed praise the Lord!
At 3.5 times larger than the old Home, the new XNCH has seven buildings for Boarding, Small Group Home, Rehabilitation and Medical Services, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Administrative Offices, and Ancillary Services respectively. Moreover, our new XNCH now houses 646 beds, a staggering increase from just 100 at our old Home!
Aside from occupational and physiotherapy, our latest modern rehabilitative technologies include hydrotherapy and different multi-sensory interactive furnishings to stimulate the senses in children with cognitive and motor dysfunction and thus improve their physical and mental abilities.
We are also excited to welcome Xiao Deng back into our CA family! Xiao Deng joined XNCH in July 2015 as a rehabilitation worker and took care of our Bridge teens until she moved to Guangzhou in 2018 when she got married.
Xiao Deng’s most memorable case during those three years was Da Jin Niu, a bedridden child with severe deformities of his limbs, cognitive impairment and a lack of conscious thoughts. At the beginning, Niu resisted therapy and would cry in each session. By chance, Xiao Deng found that Da Jin Niu enjoyed music, so she played him songs whenever he was in therapy. Despite Da Jin Niu’s speech limitations, he would try to sing along to the songs, “Aah, aah.” Slowly, Niu warmed to Xiao Deng, and he would try his hardest to wave his hands to greet her when he saw her approach. Seeing the children grow brought a lot of joy and satisfaction to Xiao Deng at work. She said, “You think I am serving the children. In fact, they are a blessing in my life.”
Xiao Deng is known for her passion to help our children work through their disabilities and gain independence as they grow older. After Xiao Deng left in 2018, our children and youth at XNCH missed her immensely. Since her return, she has continued to plan and manage our rehab training and promotional projects. Under Xiao Deng’s supervision, I am confident that our Xining Children's Home will continue to improve the lives of many children born with disabilities.
Christian Action strongly believes that every child deserves an equal opportunity to reach their full potential regardless of the circumstances they were born into. It is because of the obvious and life-changing benefits of rehabilitation services that we are committed to this endeavor. Please join us in our work, and donate now. Together, let us sing praises to the Lord who reigns above that He has given us the privilege of caring.
