How One Mentor Changed A Teenager’s Life
Before he joined Child Development Fund Project (CDF) in 2018, Arthur was a shy, timid and directionless teenager. Three years on, Arthur’s mother told us, “Christian Action’s CDF has molded my son into a more courageous grown-up. He has discovered what he is good at and now has a pathway to the career of his dreams. I am so thankful to Christian Action’s CDF project for giving him an opportunity to explore a local reputable firm. We are going to volunteer in community activities and pay it forward to those in need!”
Through the NEC Corporation Youth Work Explorer Programme, Arthur acquired versatile knowledge and skills in computer and technology. This inspired him to major in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Vocational Training Council and pursue a career in the computer industry.
The next step of Arthur's development was to gain the financial literacy to achieve his goals. With CDF’s help he learned to save HK$14,400 (including monthly saving and matching fund from government and donors). Arthur has set his sights on becoming a programmer of Virtual Reality (VR) computer games and is investing his savings in self-study computer programing materials.
Arthur declared, “through CDF I have met people from different walks of life and broadened my horizons. My mentor encouraged and guided me through my studies and with his life experience. I am so happy to have a plan for life.”
You can be a mentor today to give teens hope for their future!
