A Reason to Love!

Jesus said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 New International Version
Isolation, loneliness, depression and a raft of other mental health issues are being experienced the world over because of COVID. For Hong Kong’s working poor, who live in small, overcrowded apartments, the pressures of their daily existence make life especially hard.
Ling is a single mother in her 50s. She lives with constant pain in her bones and joints and as a result is unable to find work. Ling has few friends and felt very lonely. Thankfully she was able to link up with our staff at our Sheung Shui Service Centre, where she is now a volunteer. In her role as Centre Events Assistant, Ling has not only found a personal support system, but has also found a new sense of self-worth and dignity as she helps Christian Action serve others!
“I’m happy to work here, your staff are very kind and non-judgmental. Although my body is a bit weak, your staff do not hurry me in my work. I am also very grateful that you are willing to talk to me at work so I can socialise with others.” Ling, Christian Action volunteer.
If there is one lesson we have all learned from this pandemic, it is the need to love our neighbors. Please help us support many more like Ling by click here!
