Love Can Change Lives
“In the past, I was selfish and mean. For example, as a gold card holder, I would file a complaint to the airline company when I saw a silver card holder receiving the same service as I did,” Christian Action volunteer, Angel, explaining how God has changed her heart.
Angel worked in investment banking. Seven years ago, God led her to volunteer as an English tutor and mentor to a tight knit group of boys at our Mong Kok Service Centre. Her investment in their lives has paid dividends in every sphere of their lives.
Angel said: “I think it was God who gave me a chance to know Christian Action and serve the community. Apart from giving tutorial lessons, I chat with my mentees, pray with them, and care for them. It took a little time, but they soon felt loved and the improvement could be seen in their studies. It is really miraculous to have one’s life changed by love! It’s not the English lessons, it's the love that has improved their lives. I regularly remind them not to be beaten by the circumstances, and to look for the silver linings in life. I feel so blessed with these special encounters and I continue to become more patient after meeting them.”
I was very touched by Angel’s story. It is our mission to lift up the lives of others with love. Please support us in giving hope to the underprivileged families and children in Hong Kong.
