Who Will Come to Their Rescue?
Can you believe it is now May? Even more amazing is that in May, exactly twenty-four years ago, Christian Action and the Qinghai Provincial Government jointly opened the first children’s home there!
One of the programs we helped to initiate within the Xining Children’s Home is having on-site apartments where foster-care families can live and care for the children there.
This Mother’s Day I want to highlight the fabulous foster-care mothers at Xin Ning Court by quoting from an expert Madam Ma, one of the foster mothers:
During a chance visit to a relative’s home, I learned about foster-care. It tugged on my heart and moved me to foster a 7-year-old girl with disabilities. My whole family embraced her and we went out of our way to care for her and help her. For the next 3 years, this little girl bloomed like a gorgeous flower under our loving care! It was such a challenge for me when she was adopted and I had to learn to deal with saying goodbye. No matter how difficult it was to let go, I knew it was all for the good of this child’s future and I gave my blessing for her to go forward. We loved children so much that we took care of three more children at our home, before joining Xining Court.
I remember when I saw the kids for the first time, they called me Mum and my heart just melted with joy. I just wanted to hug them and cherish each one of them. I wanted to give my best to nurture them, to care for them and not to count the cost. I learned from these children too, they helped me to release and bound-up my past wounds. The kids’ love fills-up the empty gaps in my heart. I am also loved.
This Mother’s Day please take a moment to pray for all the wonderful Xin Ning Court Mothers! Madam Ma and her husband have now lived at Xin Ning Court for eight years and have taken in over ten children in that time!
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8
Happy Mother’s Day! Siew Mei
