Employers and Employees Together Helping Hong Kong to Recover

"If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear today's hardships."

Christian Action is very involved in helping Hong Kong to recover from the 5th wave of COVID earlier this year. Our multi-pronged approach includes holding job fairs, the most recent of which was held on June 8th at Yue Man Square, Kwun Tong.

Mr Kevin Shum, the Service Manager at Manning Control & Recruitment, City Services Group, explained that their group had lost more than 30% of its staff. Their goal was to recruit staff for security, cleaning, and customer service, bill collectors and other service positions. Kevin said they targeted to hire at least 50 people to fill up their part-time and full-time staff vacancies.

The Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East’s Human Resources Manager, Mr Simon Lee, also attended. He was looking to fill more than 20 positions for its rooms and catering departments and welcomed both new blood and middle-aged applicants.

Approximately 1,000 people attended and 450 applications were received. Applicants were mainly from the retail, property management, and security industries, which were among the hardest hit sectors of the economy.

I am grateful to the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) for sponsoring the job fair as partnerships like this help Hong Kong to rebuild faster and better!

Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future. We have overcome a lot of obstacles together, with faith and hope, we shall overcome again.
