Our Biggest, Most Exciting Store Just Opened!

I love shopping. But that’s not so surprising, because virtually everyone here does - especially when there’s a sale! 😊

‘Shopping’ has a different meaning to many of Hong Kong’s socially disadvantaged communities. This includes: the elderly; disabled; new arrivals; single parents; ethnic minorities; low-income; the unemployed and others. For them, shopping is a never ending daily grind of trying to provide for their loved ones.

Twenty years ago Christian Action’s Social Enterprise Department committed to help these groups and to encourage recycling. One way we do this is through our Community Sales Outlet stores, which sell in-kind and factory surplus goods for up to 70% cheaper than their retail prices!

This week, on June 19th, we opened a brand new Community Sales Outlet store at Nam Cheong MTR Station (Shop NAC 1, near Exit C). Our other stores are located in Yuen Long, Sheung Shui, and Kwun Tong. They are all funded by the HKSAR Home Affairs Department's “Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme”!

The Community Sales Outlets are an exciting way to help those who are socially disadvantaged to realize some savings and possibly even enjoy shopping once more!

It has been a long journey since our first outlet was opened. I am excited about what God is going to do through this new Community Sales Outlet in the coming months; the people who will be reached and the lives that will be touched and transformed.
