A Celebration of Giving!

What better way could we have celebrated Christian Action's 25th Anniversary dinner than to have two living examples of whole-hearted giving present with us on that night?

Fifteen-year-old Douge, who faced death two years ago, was with us and was a reminder of the generous giving of all CA's donors over the years who have made it possible for us to care for the children in Xining Children's Home and Huangnan Children's Home. Douge portrayed what happens when donors and volunteer medical teams contribute money and time to help the most helpless in our society.

A different kind of giving and receiving was represented by a friend of CA’s who recently adopted a child from Xining Children’s Home.  She is deeply grateful for the blessing she is receiving from this little child, so out of a heart of thankfulness she covered the cost of the dinner which was attended by 200 guests.

When Douge performed a Mongolian dance at the dinner, our hearts danced with this beautiful girl who had so recently had a brain tumour that had prevented her from performing the simple act of walking.  It was wonderful that at the time of the dinner she had actually come to HK for her annual brain scan/MRI, and we were also able to celebrate the fact that her tumour has not returned and she has a clean bill of health from the medical team.

Muyang came to HK with Douge and he too expressed his thanks for the generous giving of CA’s donors.   We were so glad to have Carmen Schiffman with us as well. Carmen has not only been a long-time donor, but has also opened her home and heart as a medical foster parent and has spent hours next to hospital beds being a mama to our children who have come to Hong Kong for treatment.

Many of the dinner guests who didn’t know much about Christian Action’s work were blown away as they heard and saw our information, and by the end of the night they had joined in the celebration of giving by donating HK$1.4 million!

We thank God for all of you!
