A 10-year-old’s biography!
One of our adopted children has sent me her very moving and honest biography. I'd love to share the whole thing with you, but I'm conscious of taking up your time, so here's a slightly abridged version of 'My Life' by Lulu.
Once upon a time there was a little girl named Lulu. When she was born, she was happy on the inside and happy on the outside. She lived with her birth family but they didn't have enough money to take care of her lips problem. A policeman found her in front of a store. Lulu was sad on the inside and on the outside so she started to cry. The police took her to the orphanage and Lulu wondered where she was.
She slept in a crib with other cribs in the room and a normal bed. Lulu had to get a bunch of pictures taken. She was scared and had to go to a foster family. She was scared it would be like a hospital. But she didn't need surgery yet and it turned out to be nice there. Then it was time to go back to the orphanage but Lulu didn't want to go but she had to. Then she was crying because she didn't want her foster family to leave. Lulu was sad on the outside and sad on the inside.
Then Lulu had to go to the hospital to get her mouth fixed she was really scared. She was asleep when she got the surgery. Lulu finally woke up and her lips and gums and mouth hurt when she ate. Lulu had a bunch of nightmares in the hospital. It was finally time to go back to the orphanage and Lulu was still scared but she was glad to be back in the orphanage and not the hospital.
Lulu and her friend in the orphanage both got a family at the same time They were both so happy that they got a family. Lulu and her friend were both sad to say goodbye but they had to go to their new families. So then they each got on a different plane. Only Mom went to China to get Lulu because Lulu’s new Big Brother started kindergarten. Mom and Lulu had to take three planes. Then it was time to go home.
Lulu looked at the house, then she went to look inside the house, then she finally went upstairs to check out her room. She was so happy to be in the house in her very own room. Lulu and Noah played tea party because Noah wanted her to be happy since she was new in the family. Lulu was happy on the inside to be in her new home.
I hope Lulu’s story encourages you to support the work God has given us to do in endeavoring to find, or create, a family life for all the children in our care.
