Rose, a Blooming Fighter
It will soon be World Adoption Day - a day to honour those who have made the selfless decision to adopt a child into a loving home. I get emotional when I think about the times I have witnessed God's hand in the lives of families who have done this.
To celebrate World Adoption Day, I will update you about Rose, whose name was previously Lili. I recently had the opportunity to catch up with Rose and Emily, her adoptive mum.
Rose was just four weeks old when she was admitted to Xining Children's Home. She was born with undeveloped ears, so we brought her to Hong Kong for treatment. While in Hong Kong, Rose met Emily and her family. They immediately welcomed her into their lives. They loved Rose so much that they eventually adopted her. What a blessing!
Rose is now six years old, and has been living in Colorado for two years. She's in kindergarten and her vibrant enthusiasm has helped her to adapt to her new environment. She is a loving little girl who readily hugs others. She is learning to read and write, and is receiving speech training.
She loves her brothers so much that she copies whatever they are doing. She also loves her weekly dance and gymnastics classes, and playing in her little kitchen or helping her mom baking cakes or pies. Rose hopes to be a ballerina, teacher or maybe a dance teacher. With such enthusiasm, I am sure she will one day have a successful career.
Emily, Rose's mother says, "Rose will defeat any challenge in her life because she is confident and doesn't worry about what others think. She isn't embarrassed about her little ears or hearing aids. We tell her daily how beautiful she is and that God made her perfect. Her confidence shines in all areas of her life and we pray that it continues to do so..."
In the spirit of World Adoption Day, may all our adopted children, and those still waiting to be adopted, continue to hope their dreams will come true.
