Faith as small as a Mustard Seed

In the blink of an eye, an entire year has passed since I wrote my April 11, 2019 blog post ‘Off to New Horizons’, and we relocated our headquarters to Choi Wan! Innumerable renovations and upgrades have followed since then. The most striking and beautiful is our three murals, which are based on the biblical parable of a mustard seed.

The mural in the reception area represents Christian Action’s beginnings. That was a time when our ability to help Hong Kong’s underserved were limited. The smallness of our start however, was accompanied by great faith that we could do more - the beginning of our mustard seed vision. On the side of our building is a huge, six storey mural of a fully grown tree. It represents Christian Action’s continuous growth, with branches extending to serve Hong Kong and Qinghai’s marginalised peoples. Finally, all the way across our building’s front are leaves that carry the seeds to different places to multiply and grow. That is my dream to see CA branching out to continue God’s mission.

Last year, as we relocated from New Horizons Building after 34 years, I wrote in my blog that ‘God has guided Christian Action as we have obediently served others. Our time in this building is a testimony of our growth and the blessing of serving the unserved.’ I have faith that our wonderful new building will be a blessing and a nurturing presence to everyone in this new community!

‘He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches."’ Matthew 13: 31-32
