Gone! 40,000 Face Masks!
Last week I promised to tell you about what happened to all the face masks we purchased. The great news is that on March 14 and 15 Christian Action teamed up with volunteers from 15 churches, LegCo Members and local Choi Wan District Councillors to host a huge event to serve over four thousand poor families and elderly residents from the public housing estates that neighbor our head office!
The people we served came from Choi Wan 1 and 2 Estates and Choi Fai Estate and were delighted to receive their free ‘blessing bag’ of masks, hand sanitiser and a bag of rice. It was all made possible by numerous donors spearheaded by Dr Charmaine Tse, 200 volunteers who worked around the clock to prepare and distribute the 4,000 blessing bags, LegCo Members and District Councillors in Choi Wan who helped to organise the quota tags and distributing bags - without whom we would never have been able to serve so many. Thank you everyone!
It was glorious to see the elderly leaving with smiles on their faces and thanking all of us for the gift. I also thank God for those who came forward asking for prayer and the 150+ people who indicated that they would like to be contacted by a local church, hallelujah!
Easter will soon be here and it is a time to thank God for sending his son as a sacrifice for us all, for Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead, and His glorious promise of eternal life for all who believe in him. We are reminded to follow Jesus’ example of sacrificial service to the vulnerable, especially the many low-income families who are suffering. May God continue to keep you and our city safe. Together we can overcome this pandemic.
