3-Legged Charity Walk Goes Online!

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will be having our eighth 3-Legged Charity Walk online. We invite participants to team up in groups of 2 to 10, and to walk 10,000 steps in 2 weeks per person. You will be helping our vulnerable children in a big way by joining our Virtual Walk!

Your donations enable us to provide a range of services to Hong Kong’s low-income families, including the very vital after-school care programme.

“2020 has been especially tough for our students. Many of them cannot cope with regular learning, and online lessons have made things even harder. Our after-school child-care programme has become the official classroom for our children.” Carol Lee, social worker and Senior Manager of our social services.

Yung Yung is a single mother of three. Her eldest son, Feng Feng, is in Primary 2, and her two younger children are in kindergarten. They live in a small, subdivided unit of 70 sq.ft. Being of Hoa descent, Chinese is not the main language of this household, so the family struggles to fit into the local community. Feng Feng’s limited Chinese ability sometimes hinders his learning progress, and he finds school particularly hard.

“I cannot read or write Chinese, so I am unable to help Feng Feng with his schoolwork. My other two children are in kindergarten; our home is very lively, so Feng Feng finds it impossible to concentrate on his studies. I am glad that your Centre can provide him with a good learning environment, and your tutors can help him keep up with his studies. Feng Feng has made some friends in your programme, so we are starting to feel that we belong to the local community. Thank you!”

We cherish good education in children and strive to help them develop into strong and educated adults. Will you come and participate in this wonderful Christian service through our 3-Legged Charity Walk in March?
