Celebrating The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club!

The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club (the Club) loves Hong Kong and Qinghai’s most marginalised and neglected communities.

In 2012 the Club enthusiastically partnered with us to organise and host a 3-Legged Fundraising Race on their gorgeous grounds. The event was a huge hit and instantly morphed into an annual event!

The original idea behind the 4km three-legged race as an activity, was that it helps participants experience a little of what it is like to have to manage life with a disability and to have to constantly, be dependent upon someone else. We have also added additional activities that help attendees get a taste of the burden, that some in our community have to shoulder.

Each past walk had its excitement and thrill, for example, in 2018 we held the first “Foot-Golf Event”. Multi-racial children from local and EM, refugee’s communities teed-off with footballs and tried to kick them into the golf holes in partnership with Chelsea football club. Donors and their families partnered with children, breaking social barriers and had a fun holiday.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of our collaboration. I'd like to thank the Club Chairman, Mr. Huen Wong BBS, JP for giving us the opportunity to work together over the past decade. I am also grateful that the Club’s Deputy General Manager Jerry Mo, who has become a good friend of mine, and his team have been extraordinary supporters of those in need. Earlier this year, during the height of COVID for example, when we reached out to the Club to support CA’s ‘Emergency COVID-19 Relief Packs’ campaign, their response was immediate. Their overwhelming support helped us to exceed our goals. They were so supportive in fact, that they gave us their very own COVID care packs!

We cannot wait to be working with the Club again at the next 3-legged race in March 2023. Thank you The Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club!
