He Still Calls Me ‘Ma’!

I have recently returned from a trip to the UK and Germany during which so many amazing and rewarding experiences happened. One such experience was the opportunity to visit with Dan, whom I first met and helped back in 1987! Organised by our Social Enterprise Department, and sponsored by the Wong Tai Sin District Council, the programs had over 1,000 participants!

Where Does My Help Come From?

Mrs Yip, On Tai Estates resident

Picture, if you can, a young girl confined to a minuscule, overcrowded apartment in the new On Tai public housing estate in Kwun Tong. She is desperate to break free and move ahead. To learn and to grow. But family finances prevent it. Where does her help come from?

Now picture, if you can, her mother. Yes, money is tight, but her greatest agony and heartache comes from her inability to help her daughter complete her homework, get ahead at school and thereby break free from poverty. All because she too, is largely uneducated. Where does her help come from?
