Talent In Limbo

Aron fled his war torn country to get away from guerilla rebels. He was a 14-year-old when he was first called on to draw posters and banners representing opposing factions, first by one side and then the other. He eventually became a threat because he knew too much about too many important people.

Mrs. Lau is a professional hairdresser who made a good living in her hometown in China. After she met and married a man from Hong Kong, she continued living in China for several years while he pursued his business interests in Hong Kong. But when their two children were 15 and 9 years old, Mrs Lau felt they should know their father, so she moved to Hong Kong.

Only five per cent of the children in Xining Children's Home don't have special needs. But we have to take special care that we don't ignore the normal needs of all our children. Learning to cope with everyday life in the world outside our Home is essential because that's what they will have to adapt to at the age of eighteen when they will no longer be dependent on the state.
