What is Cerebral Palsy?

What would you do if you visited a remote province in China only to find that no-one there has ever heard of Cerebral Palsy (CP)? And if the government then asked for your help with the disabled children in that province, how would you respond? That is what happened to me. We have been helping those children since 1997. This month I have a new and exciting project for Qinghai’s disabled children and I’d love your help!

3-Legged Charity Walk Goes Online!

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will be having our eighth 3-Legged Charity Walk online. We invite participants to team up in groups of 2 to 10, and to walk 10,000 steps in 2 weeks per person. You will be helping our vulnerable children in a big way by joining our Virtual Walk!

Your donations enable us to provide a range of services to Hong Kong’s low-income families, including the very vital after-school care programme.

Love Upgrading

My career at Christian Action began in 1987 with a heavy focus on job training and placements. At first, it was for Vietnamese refugees, then for Hong Kong’s factory workers. Since 1994, Christian Action has been an official partner of the Employees Retraining Board (ERB). We aim to enhance the employability of Hong Kong’s unemployed through vocational training, and therefore help them re-enter the workforce.

In October 2019, ERB launched the Love Upgrading Special Scheme. It was commissioned by the Government to support those who were out of work. This new scheme has expanded its target and now includes those who are underemployed or required to take no-pay leave due to Hong Kong’s economic downturn. Since the programme began, Christian Action has offered 88 courses, covering different industries and areas of vocational skills, such as electrical and mechanical services, beauty therapy and social services.
